On December 19th, the U.S. Senate approved a temporary delay to the 21 percent Medicare physician payment cut. The delay moves the date of the payment cut from January 1st to March 1st, 2010.

Latest News on Senate Healthcare Reform Bill With a procedural vote passed in the early hours on December 21st, it is expected that the Democrats have enough votes to pass a Senate healthcare reform bill by December 25th. The Senate bill would bring health coverage to about 30 million uninsured people in the U.S. within a decade and curtail insurance industry practices that make it difficult for people to get and keep private coverage. The Congressional Budget Office estimates it would cost 1 billion over the first 10 years.

During the first 100 days of office, ECMS met in monthly executive sessions to set an agenda to vote on decisions of the Finance Committee and the Policy Strategy Committee, and to meet at least once with all of the committee chairs. ECMS would utilize the MSNJ the management team more and more as things began flowing. Now halfway through office, it is time for the State of the Union address.

Letter dated November 6, 2009 from MSNJ President, Joseph Reichman, M.D. states, "Despite the recent endorsement of H.R. 3962 by our American Medical Association, physicians in New Jersey cannot support this legislation.
The 9,000 physician members of the Medical Society of New Jersey will not endorse healthcare reform legislation that fails to include essential elements needed to fix our current healthcare system."

Limited H1N1 nasal mist vaccine arrives in New Jersey. A small number of local health departments and health care providers received initial shipments of nasal spray H1N1 flu vaccine this week. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved nasal mist for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49 who are not pregnant.
The vaccine will arrive in stages over a three month period. Vaccine availability will be very limited at first and will increase over time. The injectable H1N1 vaccine is expected to begin arriving in the state over the next few weeks.

The liberal mainstream media are calling for an overhaul of our “sick” health care system. Politicians such as Ted Kennedy espouse a back door nationalized health program by forcing employers to finance costs for treating the “indigent”-patients whose family incomes are 500% above the poverty level. Dr. Glushakow has an alternative to this costly plan.
